Root for what’s underneath. Wright for the people who build it.
A wright is a maker: shipwright, wheelwright, playwright. A root is the part nobody sees that everything depends on. In an LMS, that’s the student data, the access checks and the lesson that has to load on a bad connection. That’s where we spent most of our time.
A root sign and three books.
The mark is the name, drawn: the root underneath, and the things people learn from on top. [Confirm with the brand guideline’s own description of the mark.]
root/ruːt/
noun
The part nobody sees that everything leans on. In an LMS: the student data, the access checks, the lesson that has to load on a bad connection.
wright/raɪt/
noun
A maker. Shipwright, wheelwright, playwright. The people who build the thing and answer for it.
RootWrightMeasure twice. Ship once.
The same complaints kept coming up about WordPress LMS plugins: learners finish a course and forget most of it, a course gets one price unless you pay for Pro, and sites slow down with every enrolment. So we built RootWright around the answers: recall that brings each lesson back before it fades, several prices on a course in the free plugin, and learning data in tables built for it. Fifty testers is enough to find what we got wrong while it’s still cheap to fix.
The story
Why there’s room for another WordPress LMS.
- Student progress scattered across postmeta.
- Sites that got slower with every enrolment.
- Learners sent into wp-admin to take a lesson.
Principles
How we work.
If we break one of these, tell us. They’re here so you can.
Nothing goes out until it’s been checked on a real course with real students.
Student records live in your database. [No telemetry by default. Confirm.]
Gaps go on the build log before anyone has to find them.
No perk, discount or seat is ever tied to a rating.
